  Is he a renegade or a miracle worker?  It depends on who you ask, but if you ask me, the proof is in the pudding.  A recent NY Times article featured the work of Dr. Loren Fishman, a physiatrist, or a medical doctor specializing in physical and rehabilitative medicine, and his success with patients with rotator cuff tears.

Do you want to improve the quality of your sleep naturally, without taking medication or even herbal supplements?  Consider adding a yoga class to your routine and enjoy the feeling of better zzz’s.  A study of 30 individuals conducted by the Alternative and Complementary Medicine Journal turned up some interesting results that has people looking towards yoga for more than just stretching.
Yoga can change your blood chemistry?  According to this study, it sure can.  Individuals that participated in daily yoga poses, breath control, and meditation for 3 months showed an increase in blood serum melatonin levels, as well as an improvement in cardiorespiratoy performance, psychological profile, and a general sense of well-being.  Melatonin….aaahhh the sweet chemical nectar of sleep… is also a powerful antioxidant, mood booster, and in other studies linked to anti-aging.  Ok!!  So where do we get it?!

South West Health+ Fitness of Costa Mesa is pleased to announce the addition of a new 30 minute yoga class here in our studio. The yoga class will be lead by Dr. Jessie Painter. Dr. Painter is both a Costa mesa chiropractor and a Registered Yoga Teacher in Hatha yoga. Her philosophy is that yoga is a perfect complement to chiropractic care.  Her Costa mesa practice blends chiropractic manipulation with yoga for a true holistic approach to spinal health. Dr. Jessie focuses on correcting muscular imbalances, postural abnormalities, and spinal dysfunction.  She also empowers her patients to take an active role in their own well being, believing that good health=freedom to live the life you choose. 

The class schedule for these new yoga classes are as follows:

Monday: 6:30-7:00 am and 7:15-745 am

Tuesday: 1:00-1:30 pm and 6:00 pm- 6:30 pm

Wednesday: 6:30-7:00 am  and 7:15-7:45 am

Thursday: 1:00-1:30 pm and 6:00 pm- 6:30 pm     and 6:00 pm- 6:30 pm    

Friday: 6:30-7:00 am and 7:15-745 am
